Remarks
As you can see from the pictures the boat like most recent Dufours is immediately striking: the bow drops straight into the sea and the transom includes the now ubiquitous (on boats from this French yard) bathing platform/ passarelle with an integrated swimming ladder. Stepping onto deck you find a sizable cockpit and -wait for it - two wheels! This is a real first on a cruiser of this size and makes a big difference in handling. The wheels are on the small side however this allows for comfortable maneuvering around the back of the boat. The cockpit itself is large and seats 6 comfortably with a teak table to match. The aft end of the table neatly hides away a 9 plotter which is housed in an articulate waterproof box. The first thing that hits you when moving down into the saloon is the sheer size of this cabin. Dufour has absolutely no right to fit in so much into a 37 footer yet fit they did-- and once again you feel the need to start measuring dimensions all over again. There is really too much to write about the little nick-knacks inside the saloon however the standard boat includes features like a wine cellar a Corian galley top a gigantic icebox / fridge the carefully hidden grab rails and more storage compartments than you can shake a stick at. All the storage compartments doors are fitted with a very handy hydraulic arm which prevents them from slamming open or shut. The Dufour 375 also has ample large windows in the saloon and it is therefore very well lit naturally. Hopping down during the day is a pleasure and you never need to consider turning any additional lights on. The dining table is large and includes a bottle holder which can be covered when not in use. The outer bench can slide in and out from under the table to be offer ample space when everyone is seated but also move out of the way whenever it is not needed. The galley is a real dream for anyone who loves cooking-- there is ample table-top surface area a drain board and a microwave. We tested the three-cabin layout version and were more than impressed with the size offered. In all layout versions the beds offer a large sleeping area. The forward cabin is peculiar in that it does not feature a V-berth but instead has a long berth offset to portside and a decent area you can walk into on the starboard. The aft cabins also include an ingenious contraption which helps the image conscious boat-owner hide away the unsightly piping and hydraulics which are needed for the twin steering while allowing whoever is using the berth to sleep comfortably at night. The forecabin also includes cavernous lockers underneath the bed-- these should be ideal for storing a spinnaker or enough Nero dAvola to inebriate an army. It is true that you lose the option for a second head/ shower by stepping down from the 405 however overall this is a boat which is family-perfect. It is small enough to be easily maneuverable by a couple (or even solo depending on one's skill level) however it is large enough to cater for six adults comfortably.
