"Flyaway" is documented hull *84 and is uniquely equipped for inshore or open water cruising with stabilizers trim tabs off-shore weather receiver sea anchor. For remote island cruising it has its own water-maker outsized muffled generator. Like all Grand Banks models the Classic is extremely well built with exceptional engineering and near obsessive attention to detail.The teak cabinetry is flawless the mechanical systems are first-rate. Her economical Caterpillar engines cruise her at ten knots @ 1600 RPM. "Flyaway" is outfitted to be a virtual island of its own when desired and is not duplicated on the market today.
Accomodations
"Flyaway" features the traditional 46 GB down galley arrangement. Up forward in the bow is a large vee berth sleeping area. Located to starboard is a cabinet that features a stacked Whirlpool clothes washer and separate dryer. Going up three steps one enters the main salon. Located on the starboard is the lower helm station with helm seat. Aft of the helm is a custom built settee featuring a classic drop-leaf table. Across are two custom barrel chairs. The settee also features a built-in icemaker. Unlike a pilot-house design and typical of Grand Banks visibility is a superb 360 degrees out of all the salon windows. The aft stateroom features a nice size walk around queen berth. The Vacuflush head and shower stall are split and located on each side of the stateroom. There is a large 6' tall hanging locker for clothes and foul weather gear. Unlike the new 46 GB's this one has the door going from the master stateroom to the aft cockpit area which is ideal for ventilation or as an escape route.There are separate independent reverse-cycle heat/AC units in the salon aft stateroom and foward cabin area.
Galley
The down galley features (2) cold plate refrigerators and a top-loading holding plate freezer. Additionally the galley has a 3-burner electric stove w/oven Emerson microwave Black and Decker coffee maker Seagull water filter double stainless steel sink w/ spray attachment and a garbage disposal. A separate locker forwardd of the guest head contains a Whirlpool washer & dryer.

Introduced in 1987 as the 46 Motor Yacht (and briefly marketed as a Cockpit MY) the Grand Banks 46 is now simply referred to as the "Classic" a designation few knowlegeable boaters would dispute. With her elegant trawler profile and proven semi-displacement hull the GB 46 is a true offshore passage maker and a superb sea-boat. Notably her lines are exactly those of the small Grand Banks 42 Classic and it's difficult to tell the two apart from a distance. Most have been delivered with a two stateroom galley down floorplan with a queen berth in the aft cabin. The full teak interior is extremely well crafted; both heads have separate stall showers; the engine room has five feet of headroom; and the walkaround decks are wide and well secured. (Note that the deckhouse tooling changed at hull #43 in 1988 to provide slightly wider sidedecks aft.) A very popular model twin Cat 375-hp diesels will cruise the Grand Banks 46 at 10 knots and reach a top speed of around 16 knots.
