Introduction
MOONSANDis a 135' Sovereign tri-deck Motor Yacht with a full beam Master Stateroom with (4) Guest Staterooms below. She was built on speculation and was the flagship for the Royal New Zealand Yacht Club and was alsothe flagship for the last America's Cup in New Zealand.Following purchase by the current owner she went back to the Sovereign New Zealand yard for an extensive interior refit mainly upgrading the quality of the marble and furnishings.Other features of MOONSANDinclude: a hot tub (2) tenders and a very functional cockpit. She has cruised successfully in the Mediterranean fortwo summer's. She had two seasons in Florida and the Bahamas and two trips between Asia and Australia.
Vessel Walkthrough
Boarding MOON SAND has been made easy by the aft cockpit swing ladder or the Marquipt tide ride ramp either amidships or at aft deck. The aft deck has plenty of seating with two teak (with in-lay) tables and four chairs (seating for 8-10) the salon is entered from the large the large aft deck through the custom built automatic sliding doors. Seating arrangements include a 3-seat sofa 4 arm chairs (2 covered in Zebra 2 in fabric & 1 ottoman) three wooden chests as well as an ostrich skin table with glass shelf. The entertainment center that separates the salon from the formal dining includes a pop-up 42' plasma TV with six Sony surround sound speakers DVD player and VCR and satellite receiver. Just forward is the walnut dining table capable of seating 10 guests complemented by superb sapelle and pornelle woodwork and custom buffet for storage of china crystal and stemware. Both the salon and dining area have custom crown molding which accentuates the woodwork and moldings in the ceiling and custom carpeting and marble is throughout. The entrance to the galley is via a swing door to port. Galley appliances include (1) stand up freezer as well as (4) refrigerator drawers (Subzero) (2) freezer drawers an additional refrigerator in the control room for galley use and additional 26 cu. Ft. freezer located in the forward garage. Other items include a Kitchen Aide trash compactor icemaker (2) Fisher Paykel double units dishwashers. Kitchen Aide combination oven-microwave Miele ceramic hob & exhaust fan. A teak and holly sole complements the sapelle joiner work. The large pantry gives plenty of storage for all your dry goods. Entrance to the crew quarters is through the galley. The wine fridge is an Avanti which holds 12-14 bottles and is located on the starboard side of the salon. On the main level deck there is the powder room with Sherle Wagner gold taps and fittings. There is the on-deck master suite which is designed with elegance and comfort in mind. The rounded accent theme used throughout the boat is evident in this spacious room occupying the full beam of the main. The custom king size bed is set in the center of the room with a loveseat to port & tallboy storage window seat to starboard. A full entertainment system is hidden in cabinetry opposite the bed. As you enter the stateroom you have two wardrobes of equal size along with one containing an Elsafe safe. Forward of the bed are His & Hers bathrooms his with large marble shower a steamer & a bidet. Hers with a larger Jacuzzi. On entering the master cabin there is an office with a built-in marble desk and a loveseat. From the custom marble covered floor in the main foyer you have access to the four large guest staterooms which open off the mid-ships foyer on the lower deck. Three of the staterooms feature queen size beds; the remaining stateroom has twin size beds. Every stateroom has a beautifully appointed ensuite baths with showers DVD/CD & 14' TV (multi systems) and cedar-lined hanging lockers. For your guest's comfort this foyer also includes a washer and dryer. Up from the main deck is the sky lounge foyer with access to another day head pilothouse and lounge area. Aft of the wheelhouse in the sky lounge is a granite-topped full bar with storage icemaker refrigerator and (2) dish drawers a game table large lounge area with two custom 3-seat sofa larger armchair & ottoman and desk. The entertainment center includes 42" plasma TV receiver-amplifier DVD/CD/VCR. The sky lounge aft deck has a round teak table and eight teak armchairs. There are also two more tables of aft of Corian (seating for 8-10) and (2) teak chaise lounges. The BBQ grill is propane also located on this deck. Higher still is this vessels resort deck. There is a full bar with refrigerator and icemaker. Located in the large sun-splashed area immediately forward is L-shaped seating with tables on either side. The large heated Jacuzzi is built-in the arch section. Forward is seating with views over the bow and an outside helm station.

Remarks
MOON SAND is the first yacht of a new Ward Setzer design. The hull and all fiberglass work was done to a very high standard at the Sovereign Yard in Vancouver B.C.The completed shell was thenshipped to New Zealand for installation of machinery joiner work and completion of the yachtunder somewhat of a government subsidized program which reduced the man hour costs of this high end interior. The finished yacht operated as the flagship of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron during the lastAmerica's Cup. After being well proven during these operations she wassold to the current owner who did a million dollar refit on the interior upgrading the marble and furnishings to the highest level.The Sovereign Yard in Canada became Richmond Yachts where yachts up to 150' have been built from the same mold. The 138' Richmond wasthe second hull from the mold. The waterline lengths for the two yachts are almost identical. The 138' Richmond is a little longer overall as she has an overhanging swimplatform. Draft is deeper on the Richmond for the same fuel load beam the same. Interior joinerwork is different for each yacht as well as engineroom layout hardware crew portlights etc. as this was all done in New Zealand on Moon Sand.
