Engine Overhaul Comments
It is reported that in January 2007 the Halon system discharged accidentally while the Caterpillar engines were operating. The generators were not operating at the time. The Halon was ingested into the Caterpillar engines causing internal damage. The failure of the Halon system was attributed to the Halon manufacturer and additional cause was attributed to the further failure of the Lazzara automatic shut down system.An insurance settlement was reached between the Halon manufacturer Lazzara Yachts and the previous owner. The engines were removed from the vessel and returned to the Authorized Caterpillar Service Center Pantropic Diesel. The engines were completely disassembled tested with all available technology and completely rebuilt at a reported cost of $[removed phone]. The engines were reinstalled in the vessel with a new warranty.
